A downloadable tool for Windows

Can you imagine what your photos would look like on your first Apple computer? Or an Atari from 1985? A Commodore 64? A ZX Spectrum? The old-school 8-bit palette converter will make that idea come true.

Conversion in RetroPaint is more than easy. Just upload your image in BMP format, select the platform you're converting to, and run. There's also plenty of combinations of different settings or adding effects. There's also a short description for each computer, including its full color palette. And if that's not enough: You can create your own 32-color palette and try converting images to it.

The tool is created in Freebasic.
